Sonix Launched Series of NFC (Near Field Communication) IC- SNFC1003/ SNFC1012
NFC (Near Field Communication) Technology can enable devices to sense and respond to each other by touching them together or bringing them into proximity. It can be used to connect and interact with mobile devices such as smartphone, tablet PC for development a variety of applications and products, such as identity recognition, commercial advertising, toys and smart home appliances. The MCU leader, Sonix Technology, seized the trend to launch a series of NFC chips including SNFC1003,SNFC1012.
SNFC1003 (the chip) supports NFC-A Type 2 specification. It cancommunicate with any other mobile device with NFC, and equipped with passwordfunction. Users can utilize it to set a password pairing with each other and todevelop security-related products. Regarding to power consumption concern,SNFC1003 no need batteries or power supply, as soon as the mobiledevice is approaching, the chip will be able to generate electricity throughthe antenna so that it can read and write data immediately. SNFC1003 can be appliedto label products, such as wireless Bluetooth, WIFI pairing, postersadvertising, mobile device context setting, exchanging businesscards and many other applications.
Another series, SNFC1012, also supports NFC-A Type 2 specification andwith wireless data exchange capabilities. It is built up with I2Cinterface to transfer data to other microcontrollers. Developers can utilizeSNFC1012 as a bridge between systems and mobile devices for data transfer andexchange. For example, a blood pressure or a body weight scale with a SNFC1012chip inside, users can transfer their personal information which is measured bythose health care devices through NFC chips to their mobile devices to manage personalhealth records. The SNFC1012 can also transfer information which is collectedby environmental sensors for data monitoring. With NFC chips inside, the traditionalpersonal healthcare devices can be able to equip with networking capabilitiesimmediately and become a part of I.o.T. (Internet of Things).
Moreover, microcontrollers also can instruct SNFC1012 to switch to thesleep mode through the I2 C interface so that the power consumptionreduced to the nA scale, almost zero power. SNFC1012 can also switch to sleep mode automatically when the CPU needs to be communicated with amobile device, SNFC1012 can be awaken up and then through the I2C interface to transfer and exchangedata between smart phone and devices. In addition, even in sleep mode, SNFC1012still can detect mobile phone with NFC function and determine whether the userID defined, and then wake up the other ICs on the system, allowing the systemto achieve the energy saving effect.
At present, mobile devices with built-in NFC functionality has becomeincreasingly common, the related products and services has become more and morepopular.
