Aiming for LED display applications, Sonix launched its 1st LED driver SLED 1735 series

Sonix Technology, the leader in consumer microcontroller recently launched its first LED driver IC, SLED1735 series, designed specifically for LED matrix with the features of multi-channel, constant current and PWM. The new series of SLED1735 provides per channel constant current range from 8mA to 40mA, and the output current channel can be adjusted through the 64-level internal register. The series also supports 2.7V to 5V power supply system and the sink current is up to 320mA per output channel. These features allow customers to eliminate external MOS circuit to save more development costs.

Unlike other LED drivers which only support a single fixed matrix, the SLED1735 series have four types of built-in LED matrix. That feature enables customers to choose the best configuration and the chip can drive up to 256 LED lights. In the LED matrix of SLED1735 series, each LED has on / off, blinking, breathing light and audio input, automatic synchronization and many other functions. The PWM (pulse width modulation) technology incorporated in the chip can provide 256-level brightness adjustment and it also equipped with 16-level dot correction function. In addition, SLED1735 also supports automatic detection technology which can identify the location of the fault LED lights within 2ms immediately. Currently, the patent of this new technology is filing. This function can significantly shorten the detection time to help customer to further reduce production costs.

With Sonix own technology: Voltage anti-forward (Vaf) (which is also filing patent), SLED1735 series can eliminate ghost point problems which is caused by different voltage for full-color RGB LED matrix applications, and the SLED1735 series can achieve the requirements of full color sixteen million colors. With suggestions of RGB matrix configuration, it can drive up to 75 RGB LED lights.

The SLED1735 supports I2C and SPI two transmit interfaces and is embedded clock synchronization function, which allows multiple pieces of SLED1735 ICs to synchronize their time clock automatically, when they are connected with each other, avoiding unsynchronized LED display. Moreover, in order to avoid the large thermal effect which is caused by LED drive current to make the product function failure or burned, SLED1735 also built two stage of temperature detectors. The first stage is 70 degrees Celsius detect flag, the controller can detect this flag regularly to monitor the temperature status; the second stage is 150 degrees Celsius when the temperature reaches this threshold, the thermal protection design will turn off the LED driver to avoid burning and ensure the safety of the product.

The best applications of SLED 1735 include volume effect of the LED display board for bluetooth stereo speaker, RGB LED gaming keyboard and mouse, LED advertising boards, LED monochrome display, LED full color display boards, PWM controller, LED driver circuits ...etc., With high performance and all the excellent features, the SLED1735 series can meet customer’s requirements for full color display products developments and is the most competitive solution for LED applications.
